The first Linden Postcard Show was held in 1991 as part of the St Kilda Festival. Twenty years later it is still going strong and attracting artists from all over the country.

"Until someone proves differently we firmly stand by our claim that the Linden Postcard Show is the largest open entry competition which shows work in all medium in this country and possibly the entire Southern Hemisphere" says Giacomina Pradolin, Director, Linden Centre for Contemporary Arts. "The Postcard Show also gives artists the chance to show and sell their work in a popular exhibition in a major contemporary art space. Visitors love the show as it literally has something for everyone."

"All works are for sale and the small format means the work is reasonably priced. Works by established as well as emerging artists hang side by side in a frenzy of colour and movement - a great noisy celebration of creativity. But it is the small and individual pieces of art people come back to see that, even through all the noise, have quietly spoken to them," Pradolin states.

As a way of raising funds for Linden's 2011 program there will be a special collectors preview night. For just $75 people will be able to view the exhibition and purchase work before the general opening on Saturday 5 February while being served refreshments and canapes. A special live performance will also be part of the evening. Tickets available by calling 03) 9534 0099.

All entries in the Linden Postcard Show are hung and everyone has a chance to win one of the major prizes valued at over $10,000.

Opening celebrations start from 1pm on Saturday 5 February with bar and live music. The 2011 Postcard Show awards will be announced at 1.30pm and the official opening will be by Mary - Lou Jelbart. Everyone is welcome! The Postcard Show continues until Saturday 26 March.
