Three new exhibitions open at Linden
Thursday 21 August at 6pm
D-Part, in Gallery 1, is an exhibition of work by three emerging
contemporary sculptors, Heath Sutherland, Miles Brown and Roh Singh.
This exhibition focuses on the way in which departure and memory are
used to navigate identity, the uncertainty of belonging and displacement
in today's fragmented, delocalised and hyper-stimulated society.
Sharon Thorne, Shaun Elstob and recent ANZ Visual Arts
Fellowship Award winner Viveka Marksjo, explore the use of surveillance
and voyeurism in contemporary culture in their exhibition Reconnaissance, in
Galleries 2, 3 & 5. Architecture, constructed objects, light, sound
and animation are used to reflect on the way in which an observer can influence
the perception of a space and its contents.
Dimension(s) by artists George Dann and
Patricia Bursill, in
Gallery 4, focuses on the mutability
of structure, shape and material. Everyday objects and screen images are
given new form and ambiguous associations, in a playful commentary on value,
containment, and displacement.
All exhibitions continue until Sunday 14 September.
Gallery hours are Tuesday – Sunday 1.00pm – 6.00pm.
