My "work" is an exploration of "play" or rather "recreation". I am interested in how during leisure we become unconscious of our behaviour, it's impacts environmentally, socially and politically. I draw from my circle of friends, personal holidays and my own recreational habits. My drawings are an experiment or a game I play, where the drawings are "built" in the same way as a collage, adding elements consecutively. Some of the elements derive from direct depictions of Australian events, places, objects. Other elements are documentation of objects and people from my own holidays within Australia and overseas. Previous explorations have led me to focus on recreational camping as a ritual specific to western culture and more recently how rituals of the like compare with activities that are of similar behaviour but are not "recreational" in other cultures, where they are simply about daily existence or being in the world.
