This video piece is an ongoing exploration of 'documentary
fiction' looking at the relationship between the artist and
her father. It is the first part of two visits to her father's
monthly suppers in which a bunch of friends meet up at a Chinese
restaurant to discuss jobs and to drink and gossip. Having never
met most of the chefs she sat nervously amongst the men, smiling
politely and hardly saying a word. The interviews were awkward
with one word responses. Toward the end a chef sat her down and
explained why she was destined to fail - her Chinese wasn't
up to scratch and she didn't understand some of their
answers.
