Permanent Rainbow 2008 is an ongoing venture to propel a lightweight aluminium rainbow into orbit in order to transform it from messy sculpture into to a permanent shining satellite. This program continues on from previous works such as Untitled SP [Strawberry Project] 2002 to 2005, for which I planted live fruiting strawberry plants in cracks of the pavement throughout the city of Adelaide, and the ongoing galaxy works since 2005 consisting of glitter carefully dusted through oil-stains left by cars on city streets. Permanent Rainbow assumes 'global' ambitions, to spread 'natural' wellbeing the world over in an era of dislocation and environmental degradation. To date the Permanent Rainbow missions have yet to succeed, all attempts burning on the launch pad along with much of the hope that they were intended to shuttle into space.
