IS 2021 THE YEAR OF A CREATIVE SPACE OF YOUR OWN? ARE YOU OUR NEXT ARTIST IN RESIDENCE?

Linden New Art has one studio available for our next Artist In Residence and we are able to offer a 2 year lease.

Our aim is to support an artist living or working in the Southside of Melbourne and provide them with a space to develop a new project.

Applications close on 15 April 2021.

Studio 3 is available

  • One  room measuring 3.9m (l) x 2.3m (w) with a small storage area approximately 1m x 1m
  • High ceiling with gas hydronic heating
  • Room has direct access to upstairs balcony
  • Rental $99 per week including GST (electricity, water + gas included)


All studios have access to:

  • Shared downstairs kitchen – including a fridge & kettle 
  • Shared downstairs bathrooms
  • After-hours access is limited to respect the privacy of our neighbours and the office spaces are available to access from 7am-9pm daily.

Some important things to note:

  • Linden is unable to provide reception services for any tenants
  • Tenants’ visitors must access the building via the rear external stairs & contact the relevant artist directly
  • Linden’s building and site is a strictly non-smoking
  • Tenants and all their employees must have a current Police and a Working with Children Check. Failure to pass these could see a termination of a lease.
  • As a heritage building accessibility is restricted and the spaces may not be suitable for some as a result. Please contact the gallery to discuss any particular needs so that we can advise you of the physical constraints to access.
  • There is no onsite parking available for tenants.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Linden is looking for suitable tenant to lease the studio space. Applications are accessed by a selection panel and they are looking for an artist who:

  • Lives or works in the City of Port Phillip with preference given to an artist who resides in the City of Port Phillip
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to developing an innovative and professional visual arts practice
  • Able to work in a studio space in a collaborative manner
  • Are willing to promote their work in the community through agreed studio open days
  • Demonstrate a commitment to attend the studio on a regular basis
  • Have a particular project to work on whilst in residence at Linden
  • Demonstrated capacity and commitment to contributing the cultural life of the city
