Pop-up Postcards

Bring a little unexpected colourful surprise into someone else’s day by creating a rainbow pop-up card to send in the mail. Of course, you can replace the rainbow with a pop-up image of your choice.


Materials

  • Card stock or other heavy-weight paper 
  • Colorful construction paper or watercolour paper
  • Glue 
  • Scissors 
  • Watercolours or Crayons
  • Envelope 

STEP 1

Cut a piece of card stock or paper to the desired size

To create your rainbow cut diagonally across a piece of paper Measuring
25cm L x 8 cm W

Use the rest of the paper to draw clouds, raindrops or the sun.

    Step 2 

    Paint your paper with what ever supply’s you may have at home, watercolour, acrylic paint, water colour pencils to create a blue sky if you are not using blue card stock.



    Step 3

    Design your pop-up element. This can be a rainbow or anything; a beautiful flower, a rocket launching, a bird flying – let your imagination run wild with what could really pop off the page! 

    Paint your rainbow or what ever you have decided to be your Pop up image

    using watercolours or decorate the card with crayons, markers, or coloured pencils.

    Step 4

    Draw your additional images that you would like to add to your card such as clouds, raindrops or the sun.



    Step 5

    Fold your rainbow into a fan.

    When the card is done, glue the pop-up piece and any additional pieces in place and let it dry.
