And the World Turns features eight new
oil-on-hessian paintings by Melbourne-based artist Sean McDowell, whose practice merges art and science through exploration of biology, psychology, and spirituality. Building on the history of abstraction, McDowell’s work reflects collective narratives of disease and trauma, fostering connection and healing in a time of global instability.
Sean McDowell (b. 1997) is an emerging artist working primarily across painting, drawing and exhibition-making. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The University of Melbourne, has received multiple grants, and recently completed the Billilla Studio Residency (2023) through Bayside City Council.
