Opening of Merryn Trevethan > Are We There Yet?

Join us for the opening of Are We There Yet?, Merryn Trevethan’s inaugural Melbourne exhibition following a decade-long residency in Asia.

In this contemplative installation, Trevethan presents a site-responsive wall drawing alongside a suite of new paintings realised in her former Hong Kong studio. The works evoke a spatial ambiguity that mirrors the dislocation of inhabiting both physical and virtual environments, inviting close consideration of the often-overlooked infrastructures - political, digital, climatic and social - that inform our perception of space, time and colour.

Are We There Yet? engages memory and technology to interrogate belonging and estrangement. It explores the bittersweet ache of distance from home and the elusiveness of time with loved ones. At its heart lies a persistent question: are we there yet?
