We knew this would get your attention. Strange Bedfellows brings together two speakers talking for 20 minutes each, in tag-teamed lectures discussing Drag Queens and Mid Century Modern. We will be joined by special guests Anna Power from Studio Ester and the one and only Sydney Drag Queen Entertainer Minnie Cooper. Prepare to learn some weird and wonderful facts and see if you can come up with the winning question that unites these two topics. Compete to win a prize for the best question on the day!

About the Speakers



Minnie Cooper

Minnie Cooper is a Sydney drag queen icon and has produced and choreographed award-winning shows and events such as the Sydney Mardi GrasSleaze Ball and Flash Mobs. She has worked with stars including Jimmy Barnes, Cyndi Lauper, Kylie Minogue, Tina Arena, Danni Minogue and Australia’s most famous drag performer, Carlotta.

In 2016 Minnie was semi-finalist on Australia’s Got Talent. Minnie performed for Cher at the 2018 Mardi Gras and Kylie Minogue in 2019. She has appeared on Channel 7 as one of the judges on “All Together Now’. In 2018, she performed her one woman show From Chorus Boy to Leading Lady  and won “Best In Cabaret & Musical Theatre Award” at the Sydney Fringe Festival. Minnie most recent projects include hosting the online streaming program Live From Stonewall which was nominated for best online streaming show by Time Out.

Anna Power

Anna Power has a passion for great design and is the Principal Architect of Studio Ester – an architecture and interior design firm based in Melbourne. Anna also works as part time sessional teacher at RMIT University’s Faculty of Architecture Design. Prior to establishing Studio Ester, Anna held positions with SJB Architects and Bases Smart Architects where she worked on the award-winning Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. Anna has also worked with Alexander Tzannes & Associates, University of New South Wales, the University of Sydney and Stanic Harding Architects. As a graduate architect she worked with a number of firms in Hong Kong include Design 2 Architects and Planners and Peter Fung & Associates.
