Letterpress Printing Drop-In Workshop

Drop into Linden’s Workshop Space and join staff from Firestation Print Studio to get hands-on with wood type letterpress printing as part of this year's Melbourne Art Print Fair. 

Ink up, and pull your own prints using a collection of wood type forms. Explore the tools and traditions of letterpress printing, discover printing artefacts, and pick up a little of the craft’s unique language. Designed for all ages, participants will be able to create their own text-based prints using a simple, and engaging processes that still gives them the satisfaction of pulling the press.

Wood type was historically produced for large size text. Since the decline of traditional letterpress printing, these wooden letters have become coveted collector’s items. Firestation Print Studio is dedicated to revitalising wood type printing and looks forward to sharing this enduring craft with visitors of all ages.
