Join us for a private tour of the collection of Dr Michael Schwarz and Dr David Clouston.
Michael and David are avid collectors of Australian contemporary art. Their engagement with contemporary art began in the early 2000s when they ran a small art collecting group, spending extensive time researching, visiting galleries and museums, meeting artists, and later attending art fairs.
Over time, their involvement has deepened through close relationships with artists, curators, and institutions. They have donated artworks and funds to many of Victoria’s principal museums and have made significant philanthropic contributions to contemporary art practice. Notably, they provided a repurposed Collingwood factory to Gertrude Contemporary to establish Gertrude Glasshouse, including exhibition spaces, offices, and an upstairs studio. Their support has also included co-sponsorship of the Stonehouse Glasshouse artist residency in France and seed funding for the inaugural Melbourne Sculpture Biennial at Villa Alba in 2024.
Please note that the event capacity is restricted to 20 guests as this is a tour in a private residence.
