Have you ever wondered how cameras work? Join us for the pinhole camera workshop to learn about the magic of light and make your very own camera from scratch.

Participants will be guided through the process of constructing a simple pinhole camera from recycled materials, ready to take home and create a solargraph – a long exposure recording the sun’s movement across the sky.

This is a wonderful hands-on opportunity to experience the magic of analogue photography.

> The workshop is suitable for those aged 6 years and up.

OUR FACILITATOR

SHEA KIRK

Shea Kirk is a contemporary artist working with traditional photographic methods and techniques. He won the National Photographic Portrait Prize 2023, National Photographic Portrait Prize 2020 Art Handlers’ Award, has been shortlisted for numerous prizes including National Photographic Portrait Prize (2018, 2019, 2022), Bowness Photography Prize (2020, honourable mention 2021, 2022, 2023), Olive Cotton Award (2015, 2019, highly commended 2021, 2023) and participated in a number of exhibitions including Melbourne Now (2023) National Gallery of Victoria and 100 faces (2023) Museum of Australian Photography. He exhibited selections from the ongoing portrait series titled Vantages  — Centre for Contemporary Photography (2019) and Daine Singer for PHOTO 2021 International Festival of Photography (2021). His work is held in both private and public collections.
