Melbourne Fringe and Linden New Art are reinvigorating the Fringe Furniture exhibition and bringing the newly named Design
Fringe exhibition
to the Southside of Melbourne. To celebrate this important step, we will commission a significant new work by a mid-career First Nations designer. This work will form the centrepiece of the exhibition at Linden New Art, which will be hosted at the gallery from 4 September to
21 November 2021.

Is there any possible connection between Lager Phones & Antique Dolls? Linden New Art in partnership with the Jewish Museum of Australia presents Strange Bedfellows. A series of mini lectures (20 mins in fact) on unrelated topics.
What do you do with a lagerphone? Well … you play it!
A lagerphone, or a music stick, is an old percussion instrument, like a tambourine, that was played in bush bands in the countryside. It is a
wooden stick with bottle caps nailed onto it and makes a great sound when you tap to the music. We are going to make our very own music
stick.

this talk Mykaela uncovers the aggressive energy she brings to her writing, locating its origins in DIY music critique and academic

At the end of 2018, Julia deVille presented her most ambitious solo exhibition to date at Linden. Titled Wholeness
and the Implicit Order,
the exhibition featured many of the artist’s signature works that combine taxidermy and jewellery. That was nearly two years ago, so we
thought it was high time we caught up with Julia to find out what she has been doing since then and how she is spending her time during lock
down.
